May 4, 1971: At City Center Judith Jamison dances a new solo created for her by Alvin Ailey. “For all Black women everywhere – especially our mothers,” Cry is a sixteen-minute physical and emotional journey of non-stop dancing that drains Jamison and electrifies the audience.
